One of my favorite Christmas memories is the year we gave our daughter Shannon, age 3, a new doll.
Shannon loved dolls and her favorite was a small Raggedy Ann doll she named, "Nanny." I could never figure out why she liked Nanny so much until the year we gave her a new doll.
This new doll did everything, unlike Nanny who did nothing. This new doll had eyes that blinked, when you gave her water in a bottle, she wet her diaper. But best of all she had batteries and when you would lie her down she would cry until you picked her up.
Shannon seemed happy when she opened the present and saw this new doll. I was excited to show her all this doll could do.
About 15 minutes later I was busy doing something when Shannon walked up. She had the doll in her little hands holding her up towards me. Now Shannon did not have a smile on her face. She was looking very serious as she looked at me with her big brown eyes and said, "Take the batteries out!"
