Winter Walk

by Kay Heitsch

I well remember a winter walk to school when I was a teenager. My cousin, Patty, and I walked to school. I lived in Grand Rapids, Michigan at the time. Winters are pretty rough there and still are. We had a lot of snow, but now we had freezing rain on top of it.

One day as we were walking to school, at least 10 miles. HA! HA!, Patty and I could actually walk on top of the snow. We were laughing and slipping and sliding all the way. All of a sudden Patty decided to walk on top of a snow drift. Down she went!

I know you're not suppose to laugh when someone falls, but I couldn't help it. I started to laugh. Now Patty was laughing too. We were both laughing so hard tears were rolling down our cheeks. Then something happened we weren't expecting...we both wet our pants. OH NO!

We had to walk back home and change. We were late for school that day and never told anyone until NOW.
